The journey

Engineering, then defence research, then building, then selling, then policy. The through line is the seam between what gets built and who answers for it.

2018 to 2022

Bengaluru, and a circuit board

I grew up in Bengaluru and read electronics and communications engineering at PES University. The city was becoming India's technology capital while I was learning how the hardware underneath it actually worked, which turned out to be a useful order to learn things in.

  • PES UniversityBTech, Electronics and Communications Engineering, 2018 to 2022
2019 to 2020

Defence research, at nineteen

I spent a year and a half at DRDO's Aeronautical Development Establishment in Bengaluru, working on image processing and computer vision. It was my first look at how a state institution actually consumes technology: slowly, carefully, with an evidence burden that commercial software never has to carry. Almost everything I now believe about AI governance started there.

SitFit, and learning to finish things

I co-founded SitFit, an AI office ergonomics product, and took it from concept to pilot rollout. We raised $200,000 from Co-Create Ventures, a student venture fund, and I led product design, user research and go to market. I exited after two years. The lesson that stuck was not about models. It was that a system nobody is accountable for is a system nobody trusts.

Payments, pipelines and quota

At inai, a Y Combinator S21 company later acquired by Chargebee, I worked on growth and content strategy for payment orchestration. Then eight months as a go to market consultant at TestMu AI, where I ran demos and account strategy for cloud QA tooling and finished Q3 2023 at 157 percent of quota. Two years of learning how technical products are actually bought, which is not how they are actually built.

2024 to 2026

Washington

I moved to Washington, DC for an MBA in International Business at The George Washington University, and promptly spent most of it outside the classroom. At FICCI America I prepared research notes on technology and strategic cooperation, including a five-year summary for Prime Minister Modi's visit, and coordinated a US India Business Group roundtable with the Embassy of India. At the Washington Forum on India I contributed white papers on public sector procurement and AI readiness.

!ntellibot

In parallel I built !ntellibot, an automated open source intelligence pipeline. It scaled past seven thousand daily requests and was integrated into WorldMonitor inside eighteen months. It is the direct ancestor of what I now do at Alethman: reading the open record at machine speed, without making claims the evidence does not support.

Teaching the people the transition hits first

With Upskilling Labs and DC Public Library I mentor AI upskilling cohorts for early career professionals, people returning to industry and laid off federal employees. I have guided five teams through to DC Startup and Tech Week. Governance arguments get much more honest when you are standing in front of the people the transition reaches first.

Geneva, and the year everything landed at once

In July I was a respondent at the UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance in Geneva, arguing that India and the Global South are not a footnote to AI governance but its most demanding test case. In May I published India at the Threshold, a strategic foresight assessment of the 2026 El Niño, which Aevy TV picked up with named attribution. Then, in the space of four months, Ooru, Netizen Studio, Alethman, the Center for Industry Self-Regulation and The Monsoon Institute.

The argument I am making

Governance should be measured not by how many principles we publish, but by how reliably they hold up in practice. That is why the systems I build log everything, sign their outputs and can be audited by the people they answer to. Principles are cheap. Traceability is the expensive part, and it is the only part that holds.

  • AlethmanAppend-only audit trails, cryptographically signed outputs, self-hostable inside government infrastructure
  • ORCID0009-0008-2288-4018

What I build

Four live, two finished. Each one a bet that the gap between a stated rule and a working system is where the real problem sits.

Alethman

Co-founder and COO. Delaware, since September 2026.

  • Three product lines
  • Self-hostable, append-only, signed
  • Delaware C Corp

Alethman parses unstructured geopolitical data feeds into real-time risk modelling for decision-makers. The systems are built to be self-hostable inside government infrastructure, with append-only audit trails and cryptographically signed outputs, so every finding can be traced back to what produced it. I lead operations, go to market and government partnerships across three product lines.

  • Pramaan. Narrative integrity and verification for state institutions.
  • Arctus. Defence and security intelligence fusion.
  • Polity. Fraud and leakage detection across public expenditure.

Ooru

Founder. Since June 2026.

  • Seven cities
  • Six modules
  • Web and Google Play, iOS in development

A civic utility platform for Indian cities. It started in Bengaluru with one question: why is the information you need to actually live in your city scattered across a dozen apps, PDFs and WhatsApp groups? Live in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune, on the web and on Google Play, with iOS on the way.

  • Transit. Routes, timings and how to get across the city.
  • Events. What is happening near you, this week.
  • Thindi. Where to eat, from darshinis to the places only locals know.
  • Report. Civic issues raised and tracked, not shouted into the void.
  • Connect. Find people in the city worth knowing.
  • Kannada. The everyday language you need to belong here.

Netizen Studio

Co-founder. Since August 2026.

  • Design, build, hosting
  • Domains, email, analytics, integrations

A digital solutions studio for startups and growing businesses. We design and build fast, modern websites, and then handle the unglamorous infrastructure around them: domains, business email, forms, analytics, integrations and ongoing technical support.

Aeyron Health

Startup advisor. Since April 2026.

  • Equity-based advisory
  • AI, medical devices, clinical data

A healthtech company building AI-driven respiratory intelligence for neuro-respiratory applications. I support the founders on strategy, product direction and system-level design across AI, medical devices and clinical data. An equity-based advisory role.

!ntellibot

  • 7,000+ daily requests
  • Integrated in eighteen months

SitFit

Co-founder. 2019 to 2022. Exited.

  • Co-Create Ventures

A venture-backed AI office ergonomics product, taken from concept to pilot rollout. Raised $200,000 from Co-Create Ventures. I led product design, user research and go to market, and built the early partnerships that validated the market.

Answers

The questions people and search engines actually ask, answered plainly enough to be quoted.

Who is Anindya Mishra?

A technology policy researcher and founder working on AI governance, sovereign AI and climate risk. Co-founder and COO of Alethman, founder of Ooru, Senior Fellow and Editor at The Monsoon Institute, and an MBA candidate in International Business at The George Washington University. ENTP-A, for whatever that is worth.

What does he work on?

What makes AI governance work in practice rather than on paper: what autonomous agents can access, who authorises their actions, and how failures are detected and audited. That runs across AI safety and regulation, sovereign AI, industry self-regulation and soft law, and the energy and water footprint of AI infrastructure.

What is Alethman?

An intelligence infrastructure company that turns unstructured geopolitical data feeds into real-time risk modelling. Three product lines: Pramaan for narrative integrity and verification, Arctus for defence and security intelligence fusion, Polity for fraud and leakage detection in public spending. Self-hostable, append-only, cryptographically signed.

What is Ooru?

A civic utility platform for Indian cities, covering transit, events, food, civic issue reporting, local connections and Kannada. Live in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune, on the web and on Google Play, with iOS in development.

Where is he based?

Washington, DC, working across the India and United States corridor. He grew up in Bengaluru and read electronics and communications engineering at PES University there before moving to Washington in 2024.

What is he open to?

Research collaborations, speaking engagements, expert commentary, policy submissions and advisory work across AI governance, sovereign AI, technology policy, climate and energy policy, and geopolitical intelligence. Email is the fastest route.
